Patricia McCormick to visit, February 7th at 2:00!

Author Patricia McCormick, nominated for a National Book Award for her controversial novel Sold, will be here at the library Wednesday, February 7th at 2 p.m. She'll be reading from her book, discussing the writing process, and offering advice to budding writers.

Sold, based on actual accounts of children forced to work in brothels, is the harrowing tale of a young Nepalese girl sold into slavery by her unscrupulous stepfather in India.

A book signing will follow Ms. McCormick's presentation. We'll be raffling off several copies of Sold, but you've got to be there to win!

Also following the program will be a chance to test out some more furniture possibilities for the new teen area at the library. It should be quite the exciting afternoon!

Yeah, yeah. I know y'all are busy, but midterms, schmidterms! Here's a link to the newest list of award-winning books for teens. Check it out during your next study break!

Anime Club, February 2nd, 7:00-9:00

Calling all teenaged anime enthusiasts! The first meeting of the library's new Anime Club is coming up fast! We're all for democracy, so we'll be showing the movie, of the three listed below, that gets the most votes at the beginning of the meeting.

-- Cowboy Bebop, the Movie
-- Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis
-- Princess Mononoke

The club will meet at least once a month to select, view, and discuss anime.

Teens in grades 6 and up can join the club in person at the Youth Services desk at the library or by calling us at (732) 390-6789.

Electronic Gaming, January 15th, 1:30 to 3:30!

Teens in grades 8 and up can take the school day-off challenge and try out some of today's top games. We'll be playing Madden Football, Gran Turismo, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and DDR, just to name a few. Please register in person or by calling us at (732) 390-6789.
